Council of Higher Education has issued its resolution in its 65th session to change the name of the college from College of Physical Education and Sport to College of Sport Sciences and Physical Activity and to reconstruct the college departments to include: Sport and Recreation Management Department, Physical Education Department, Biomechanics and Motor Behavior Department and Exercise physiology Department. The department seeks to qualify students for labor market by equipping them with teaching and administrative skills and to train them on modern techniques and methods for learning and teaching. In addition, it aims to prepare qualified physical education teachers to teach the physical activities for students in primary school, intermediate school, secondary school and for individual with special needs.

The department will pursue its vision and mission through the following goals:

1. Provide educational environment which fosters the student creative thinking development  in teaching physical education.

2. Equip student with teaching skills to work effectively and efficiently in all levels of education.

3. Educate student about  the modern technology and how can be used in learning process. 

4. Support the scientific researches which contribute to the solution of the teaching problems.

5. Serve the community through joint cooperation and providing high quality consulting services for  related institutions and commissions. 

To achieve leadership and excellence in the preparation of  high qualified teachers and researches in the area of school physical education locally, regionally and globally. The department carry out its vision through providing  educational effective environment as well as scientific, educational and vocational services for improving life quality of community.

The department of Sport and Recreation Management is a scientific and educational center which provides programs in accordance with international standards. The department is responsible for preparing specialists in areas of sport and recreation management to earn Bachelor's degrees and soon Master's and PhD degree. Graduated students are introduced to a broad range of job opportunities in governmental and private institutions such as Ministry of sport, sport federations, sport clubs, sport and recreations centers, sport marketing, sport media and sport facilities management. The department also actively contributes to activities which serve the community.

1-To provide student with knowledge and adequate administrative and research skills required by professional sports and recreation establishments locally and regionally.

2-Preparation of a new generation of distinguished researchers in the fields of sports and recreation management.

3-Preparation of qualified specialized cadres capable of managing and developing programs and activities in the various sports and recreation establishments.

4-Support of cooperation and partnership with the various sports and recreation establishments and sectors locally, regionally and internationally.

Provision of a motivating learning and research environment for the preparation of  specialized   competent   cadres   for working in the various fields of sports and recreation management.

Pioneering and distinction in the field of sports and recreation management  locally, regionally and internationally.
